Picked up a nail? Slow leak? Tire feels off? At Ely's Tires we can usually have you back on the road within 15–30 minutes. We don't push unnecessary repairs and we don't replace tires that can be safely fixed.

Plug vs. patch — which do you need?

For most punctures in the tread area (the part of the tire that touches the road), a plug or patch will do the job. Plugs are quick external repairs that work well for small nail holes. Patches are internal repairs that we install from the inside of the tire after dismounting it — more thorough and longer-lasting.

For deeper or larger punctures we typically recommend a patch (or a combination plug-patch) for safety and longevity.

When NOT to repair a tire

  • Sidewall punctures or damage — sidewalls can't be safely repaired
  • Multiple punctures within close proximity
  • Tread depth below 2/32" (the legal minimum)
  • Tires that have been driven flat for any distance

If your tire isn't safe to repair, we'll tell you straight — and offer you a quality used tire as a budget-friendly replacement.
